Genealogy of my kin
The first question is "are they are real company?" So far, there is little evidence that they have a company.
  • There is nothing in the Fairfax Better Business Bureau about them.
  • The flyer that they handed me has no address, just a phone number.
  • When I paid them with a check, they did not give me a receipt.
  • And they didn't like the check because they couldn't cash it that evening.
  • They did not provide a written estimate
  • But you can find their company if you search hard enough. I found a link to them on http://yellowpages.superpages.com/ At least they have a vanity website.

These guys are looking pretty bad. We will give them a little while to fix the mess that they've made.

Our complaints

We feel that this company performed poor quality work. The specific complains are:

  • They widened the driveway by paving over a 18 inch wide strip of grass that served as a buffer between the driveway and a large Azalea garden. They paved over at least a 40 foot length of grass, with no preparation, or approval. They simply paved the grass. We did not want the driveway widened, and we did not authorize it. If we had wanted it to be widened, we would have expected that a proper gravel base would have been installed and compacted before laying the final asphalt.
  • The put too much asphalt depth where the driveway joins the garage floor. Water will now drain into the garage rather than away down the driveway. This problem was mentioned to both partners in the company, both times they promised to fix it. They never instructed their crew to fix it, they never mentioned it.
  • They raised the level of the driveway so that the downspout from the roof ended in a pocket of asphalt. It would have taken a minute or two to raise the downspout and clear it.
  • They left their pavement roller sitting on the driveway for several hours. During the time, the asphalt cooled and hardened. There are clear indentations where the roller compressed the driveway, with clear potential to collect water and freeze.
