Andrew H Farrell eating watermellon

Here is a snapshot of Andrew H Farrell eating the fruits of his garden. The garden was just over the hedge seen behind him, along the right of way for the Washington and Old Dominion Railroad.

The photo is undated. I would guess it was mid-50s, as he is fairly thin and has enough hair to part in the middle.

Two other clues to the age:

the hedge is a reasonable height, as the kids got older, it grew taller
the main power line is still on a wooden pole. In the mid-60s, these poles were replaced with huge metal towers.
