Think of this as a Cyndi's list with less advertising.

KindredKonnection had a lot of my family in their GEDCOMs and are not too expensive. However, they are not strongly recommended, as there are claims that they (and mytrees.com) misappropriate data from other sites.
TMG (The Master Genealogist) is the package that I expect to use in the future. You can learn more at the author's site: Wholly Genes Software. TMG is a serious tool for recording research. It is not the most approachable software in the world.

WorldConnect

I'm just starting to check out Gone But Not Forgotten, which at least has a great domain name: gbnf.com. So far, it is a standard ad supported site, selling coats of arms, books, etc. with a small number of family trees.
GenServ, more user supported GEDCOMs, accessible via subscription. I've never found any relatives searching here.

FamilyDiscovery.com is warned about in this genealogytoday article
