This is pfarrell.com's genealogy section. The families listed here are all represented in the American "mid-west" of the early 1900s. The Farrell, Scogin, Freer, Ruther, and Burke families were connected in Omaha, Nebraska. The Schottler, Hickman, and Dawson families were from South Dakota and Minnesota.

I've been told that I'm not really a genealogist. I am much more interested in the stories that define who my relative are, than exactly which blood relative begat which other blood relative. The relationships are important, but not my main focus.

The earliest record we have so far is for Willem Couwenhoven 1466, who is not a direct ancestor of mine, he is a direct ancestor of my sister-in-law. The next oldest line starts with William Ring, born 1565, Houghton, Lancaster, England. While Wm. Ring is not related to me, he is a direct ancestor of my cousin Mark.

Tools

I've been doing some more work, and have a new program, not yet ready for public use. It processed the files in my family tree, adding backgrounds, meaningful titles, meta tags for search engines, pointers back to specific family pages, etc. If you notice the results and like what you see, drop me a line.

Other sites

I collected my initial 2480 folks using Sierra's now abandoned Generations package. SierraHome has taken down their website for the package as of December 13, 2001. I'm in the process of evaluating Wholley Gene's TMG and other packages
