Andrew and Clare's family
In the usual order:
I'm not sure if anyone other than Pat and Mike has a webpage. Which
reminds me of an Irish joke: Pat and Mike walk into a bar....
Yes, we are all engineers
It is genetic. My father, Andrew H. Farrell was a college trained
Architectural Engineer (Iowa State, '34). My grandfather on my mom's
side, Harry Andrew Scogin, was a steam locomotive train engineer for
Union Pacific railroad.
Bonnie's father was a trained Electrical Engineer. Three of my
brothers are Professional Engineers (all Mechanical). I even spent
all of my undergraduate education in the ME department at Virginia
Tech, and my first job after graduation was as an Engineer.
Then I turned over to the dark side, and became a software engineer.
As did my little brother
Mike.
It just keeps going on. At a recent family reunion, we met Al Klouda,
who is married into the Farrell family. He is a engineer, as are
at least two of my first cousins. At the reunion, Al's wife said
that she was looking to meet an Engineer in college, and that "they
were easy to spot, because they all had slideules clipped to their
sides." So natrually, I had to find my
sliderule so we could all talk about what geeks we were in college.
